FRUIT MACHINE SECRETS
How to Win a Jackpot
NOT EVERYBODY considers playing fruit machines a legitimate form of gambling. But fruit
machines don’t only exist for entertainment. A small band of dedicated players regularly earn over
6500 a week by travelling around and carefully ‘milking the machines’.
The necessary skills can be learned by anyone of rea-sonable intelligence. However, it’s not quite
that simple – you need to know how the machines work, what but-tons to press, and when to press
them. And unfortu-nately, the so-called ‘professional’ fruit machine players aren’t usually too keen
on sharing their knowledge.
However, TWR is able to bring you the ‘insider tips’ you need to know in order to play the fruit
machines’ for profit.
Types Of Fruit Machine
There are three main types of fruit machine to be found in the UK:
AWP (amusement with prizes) These can have a jackpot up to £25. They usually have 3 reels and
usually a repeat chance on the jackpot.. Minimum stake is usually 20 to 30 pence.
Club machines – these have four reels and are commonly found in working men’s clubs, snooker
clubs, bingo halls and other clubs where membership is required. Although the minimum stake is
25p the jackpots range from £75 to £250.
Casino machines – these are a fairly recent introduction and are found in casinos. Although they
are similar to club machines they offer a larger jackpot., usually £1000
Licensed Betting Offices - The UK’s 8,300 Licensed Betting Offices are now able to install fruit
machines and most of them have done so.
Why Do Fruit Machines Pay Out?
Although fruit machines are designed to make money, remember that by law all fruit machines are
required to pay out between 72 and 98 per cent of their takings in winnings. However, don’t
assume that if you put in £10 you’ll get at least £7.20 back. Machines tend to save up most of their
takings and pay them out in a series of jackpots over a short time.
The trick to winning is to let the ‘amateurs’ lose their money and stock up the machines. You’ll then
be able to move in and – using the tactics described – play the machine until it reaches a point
where it has to give back most of the money it’s stored up. In other words, you can turn around the
machine’s built-in profit margin to your advantage.
Which Machines Should You Play?
Club and casino machines are the best machines to play from the point of view of making serious
money, since they offer the highest jackpots, although the payouts are obviously less frequent.
That’s not to say you should ignore AWP machines though. While the jackpots are worth less than
for club machines they pay out more regularly, and with some ‘insider knowledge’ you can learn to
beat the machines on a regular basis.
Barcrest and Maygay are perhaps the two most well known machine manufacturers, in the UK at
least. Many pro’s seek out these machines as, with a little experience, it’s possible to play until
‘red’ or ‘invincible’ mode is reached (when the machine pays out a number of jackpots within a
short period of time). With other manufacturers, the profit potential of their machines varies. Pro’s
tend to avoid Mazooma machines as they tend to force the player to collect small cash prizes,
meaning it’s difficult to get the game into ‘red’ mode. Bellfruit have a number of machines with
excellent jackpot potential. And so do JPM machines.

Before You Start Playing
To make continuous profits from fruit machines you need to approach it like a job, not just a hobby.
You need to be disciplined enough to set yourself a strategy and stick to it. Best advice is to
master one or two types of machine inside out, then concentrate on finding establishments where
those machines can be found.
So is there a way to learn how to play a machine without wasting your own money? Yes – try the
following:
Spend time discreetly watching others play a machine. If they’re doing well, try to note what they’re
doing. If they’re doing badly, try to spot what they’re doing wrong.
Visit internet sites for fruit machine fans. There are sites with up-to-date guides to all the latest
machines, and there are also online chatrooms where people can swap tips
.
Some top pro’s will club together to buy a new or secondhand machine in order to practice on it,
before going out into the real world and putting their skills to good use. See the Resources section
later for details of websites and manufacturers.
There’s more to winning regularly than simply feeding a machine until you hit the jackpot. Set
yourself a profit target, and quit when you’ve reached it. You’ll require a betting bank worth roughly
double the profit target you’re aiming for. For example, if your profit target is to win a machine’s
£100 jackpot, you’ll need a betting bank of £200, ideally in £1 coins in case the establishment runs
out.
Your initial aim when you start out playing a particular machine is to learn how to play it, while at
least earning your stake back. Then, as you begin to master that machine, you can start to aim for
bigger profits.
An inevitable pitfall is that once you’ve mastered a machine the establishment will cart it off and
install a different one. That’s why it’s necessary to visit different places noting the different
machines, joining lots of different clubs/casinos if necessary. The real pro’s take care not to win
too often in any one establishment – owners don’t take kindly to anyone who keeps milking their
machines. Also bear in mind that after paying out a jackpot, it may take a few days for the machine
to take enough money to pay out another.
It’s vital to learn the art of discretion. Try to melt into the background, particularly when you’re
observing the machine, before playing it. And don’t hang around when you win.
