• Some believe that it was brought over from France during the colonization period.

• In the old west, poker was a very popular card game. Why? It was a game where you could win a lot of money fast, especially if you cheated. As a result, many poker players in the old west played poker with their backs to the wall and their guns inches from their hands, incase they needed them. • Today, poker has outgrown the “swamp” days. Today, poker is consider a sport and professional players gain as much fame, sometimes more, than professional athletes and movie stars.
